MiraMed Quality Payment Program (QPP) Platform for Compliance

Fee-for-service has been the traditional methodology for reimbursements, but now that CMS has transitioned to a pay-for-performance methodology, it is easy to get lost in the acronyms and the policy. MiraMed Quality Payment Program (QPP) Platform for Compliance guides clients through these changes and provides a structured and practice-specific platform to ensure that a practice is not only protected from penalties but puts itself in a progressive position with its facilities and payers.

The QPP Platform for Compliance guides clients through these changes year after year and provides a structured and practice-specific platform to ensure that a provider is not only protected from penalties but puts itself in line for incentive payments.

Most anesthesia clinicians are actually exempt as they collect less than $90,000 annually in Medicare Part B charges.  Those that choose to participate do so because of relationships with their facilities, payors, and for internal reporting purposes.

MiraMed’s QPP Platform for Compliance prepares anesthesia clinicians and practices for the changes currently in effect under the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) legislation.

The technology platform includes:

  • MiraMed’s CMS-approved Qualified Registry (QR)
  • Plexus TG’s Anesthesia Touch™ certified electronic health record (EHR) featuring easy data capture.
  • Quality Touch mobile quality capture application available on iOS, Android, and Windows devices

Additionally, the platform utilizes other data capture methods such as Electronic Medical Record submission through Epic and Cerner, paper quality forms, and always includes feedback reports and full data extracts.

Our comprehensive platform guides anesthesiologists and anesthetists through the transition to successful submission in the Quality Payment Program.  These new CMS requirements, already in effect, mandate that providers track and regularly report standardized metrics across four categories, including quality performance.

Our reporting platform offers the greatest level of flexibility and alignment with anesthesia practices and MIPS is the recommended approach for almost all providers.

MIPS has four performance categories that must be met for successful completion and to achieve incentive payments and avoid penalties.

MIPS - How It Works

MIPS has four performance categories that must be met to achieve incentive payments and avoid penalties.

Quality

Submit data on the Anesthesia Specialty Set which consists of:

  • MIPS 44 - Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG): Preoperative Beta-Blocker in Patients with Isolated CABG Surgery
  • MIPS 76 - Prevention of Central Venous Catheter (CVC) – Related Bloodstream Infections
  • MIPS 404 - Anesthesiology Smoking Abstinence
  • MIPS 424 - Perioperative Temperature Management

  • MIPS 463 - Prevention of Post-Operative Vomiting (POV) – Combination Therapy (Pediatrics)
