SPECIAL ALERT: Federal Government Grants $30 Billion to Providers

SPECIAL ALERT: Federal Government Grants $30 Billion to Providers

The Stimilus Money in Your Account, Is It Really a "No-Strings-Attached" Grant?

In an effort to help financially struggling practices during the COVID-19 crisis, the government has begun sending funds directly into the bank accounts of solo practitioners and medical groups. Here are the highlights:

  • You must agree to the "terms and conditions" of the grant by attesting within 30 days of receiving the funds. Among the conditions is your agreement not to balance-bill COVID-19 patients. The attestation can be done via the Medicare portal, and the full terms and conditions can be reviewed HERE. The portal is not available as of this alert. We strongly recommend that you have your legal counsel review this document before submitting your attestation.
  • These are grants and do not have to be repaid. (This initiative is NOT part of the Advanced Payment Program.)
  • There is no application process. The funds are being received starting on, April 10, and over the next few days.
  • These automatic payments will come to providers via Optum Bank with "HHSPAYMENT" as the payment description.
  • The payment amount will be based on a government calculation involving a percentage of your 2019 Medicare receipts.

We stand ready to assist you if you have questions concerning this federal grant initiative. Please contact your account executive, email CARES@anesthesiallc.com or visit https://www.hhs.gov/provider-relief/index.html.
