Anesthesia Business Consultants (ABC) announced today that it has partnered with Surgical Information Systems (SIS), a leading anesthesia information management system (AIMS) provider, to streamline revenue cycle workflow. The alliance provides integration that enables data captured in SIS’ AIMS to flow into ABC’s anesthesia billing tools to improve billing accuracy and timeliness. It also offers analytics capabilities that enable ABC clients to collect and analyze anesthesia-specific perioperative data.

With over 300 successful perioperative implementations, SIS solutions deliver proven benefits to anesthesia providers and hospitals across the United States and Canada. SIS is recognized by top industry associations for its commitment to advance anesthesia solutions. SIS was the first AIMS provider to achieve Anesthesia Quality Institute (AQI) Preferred Vendor status, and SIS Anesthesia is exclusively endorsed by the American Hospital Association (AHA) indicating the solution has met AHA requirements for quality, integrity, innovation, stability and flexibility. SIS Anesthesia Version 5.0 has been certified to meet 2011/2012 Stage 1 meaningful use measures as a modular Electronic Health Record (EHR).1 Both SIS and ABC also are supporters of the American Society of Anesthesiologists.

“ABC strives to excel in all facets of managing an anesthesia practice and that includes integrating with the software the providers use in the perioperative and clinical areas,” remarks Tony Mira, President and CEO of ABC. “Surgical Information Systems reflects the skill, understanding, and technological capabilities of an organization that has committed itself to the betterment of all of anesthesia. We are proud to add SIS to our partner list and look forward to showcasing their AIMS solution and anesthesia-specific analytics tools to our customers.”

SIS Anesthesia is designed to streamline electronic anesthesia charting and OR management. By accurately tracking and recording all procedures and events as they happen, SIS Anesthesia clients have realized measurable benefits such as increased anesthesia billing by 5% and reduced billing time by 75%. Furthermore, with anesthesia-focused analytics, anesthesia providers can collect and analyze drug administration data, patient demographics, and clinical outcomes to support quality improvement.

“SIS’ alliance with ABC underscores our mutual commitment to support the information technology needs of anesthesia providers,” says Ed Daihl, Chief Executive Officer of SIS. “SIS Anesthesia is proven to help anesthesiologists document more quickly and completely. As a result, billing is more accurate and timely, which leads to improved efficiency and profitability.”

Bryan Sullivan, Vice-President of Clinical Technologies at ABC comments, “Many ABC customers are currently using SIS Anesthesia for their workflow and documentation needs. This alliance will streamline the process of collecting the clinical, operational, and administrative data for billing. Our new relationship with SIS and the integration of our technologies will allow for users to add an additional layer of automation resulting in increased efficiency and analysis.”
